Catherine “Halie” Creps, CPA, has been selected as the next chair of the AICPA Auditing Standards Board (ASB).
Creps, a partner in KPMG’s Department of Professional Practice, and seven board members will assume their new roles at the end of May.
“Halie has the right skills and expertise to extend the record of strong leadership we’ve had at the ASB,” Jennifer Burns, CPA, the AICPA’s chief auditor, said in a news release. “Emerging areas of assurance, the expanding use of new technologies, and the current pace of standard setting make it more critical than ever for the board to have strategic oversight.”
Creps will succeed Sara Lord, CPA, who has served as chair of the board for three years. Creps has been on the ASB throughout Lord’s tenure and formerly served as a practice fellow at FASB.
The new board members are:
- Michael Brand, CPA, CGMA, assurance member, BMSS LLC;
- Heather A. Funsch, CPA, principal and director of professional standards, Rehmann;
- Nora Kilaghbian, vice president, Capital Group (retired);
- Carole McNees, CPA, partner, Plante Moran;
- Christine Quintana, CPA, partner, Ernst & Young LLP;
- G. Alan Skinner, CPA, partner and assurance service line leader, Carr, Riggs & Ingram LLC; and
- Daniel Trujillo, CPA, CGMA, managing partner, TKM LLC.
The ASB issues standards for auditing private companies, quality management standards for practitioners providing audit and attest services to private companies, and attestation standards. It also develops practice guidance for performing audit and attestation engagements under AICPA standards.
