99 minority college students complete Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop

Ninety-nine minority college students completed the AICPA’s annual Accounting Scholars Leadership Workshop (ASLW).

The ASLW program is an annual, all-expenses-paid event for racial and ethnic minority students anticipating a career in accounting. The three-day invitational program is designed to strengthen students’ professional and networking skills, while helping them to prepare for a career in accounting.

During ASLW, students engaged in panel discussions and learned what it’s like to be a CPA. They also learned how to prepare for the CPA Exam and how to network and build a social media brand. Among the presenters and speakers offering guidance were Barry Melancon, president and CEO of the AICPA and CEO of the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants; Kimberly Ellison-Taylor, former chairman of the AICPA board of directors; and Billy Williams, audit partner at KPMG.
