PCAOB seeks feedback on its 5-year strategic plan

The PCAOB is accepting feedback on its 2026-2030 strategic plan.

According to a news release, comments are being accepted through Sept. 4 by email (comments@pcaobus.org) or traditional mail.

“Receiving stakeholder feedback at this stage will help ensure that our final 2026–2030 Strategic Plan is both ambitious and practical — one that advances audit quality, enhances transparency, and positions the PCAOB to meet the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly evolving environment not only over the next five years, but well into the future,” PCAOB Chair Demetrios Logothetis said in a news release.

The PCAOB, influenced by a March call for public input on its strategic priorities, identified three reinforcing priorities: advancing audit quality and investor protection; clarifying expectations and the basis for decisions, leading to understandable outcomes; and transforming how oversight is delivered.

The proposed strategic plan features six goals:

• modernize standard setting and implementation;
• modernize the inspections and registration programs;
• sharpen enforcement focus on conduct harmful to investors;
• deepen stakeholder engagement and communication;
• modernize oversight through technology and data; and
• strengthen organizational effectiveness and stewardship.

Nearly 700 students named PCAOB Scholars

The PCAOB selected 677 students from U.S. colleges and universities to each receive a $15,000 merit-based scholarship for the 2026-2027 academic year.

According to a news release, the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 established that funds from the collection of PCAOB monetary penalties must be used to fund the merit scholarship program. Since the program’s launch in 2011, nearly $53 million in scholarships have been awarded to nearly 4,300 recipients.
