The IRS has launched a digitally authenticated Tax Compliance Report that taxpayers can use to verify their tax compliance when applying for a job, a loan, a government benefit, or other services.
Financial institutions, government agencies, and other organizations that receive the report can use its built-in digital certificate to confirm its authenticity, the IRS said Thursday in a news release.
The certificate is intended to help protect taxpayer information and maintain the integrity of the report, which shows whether a taxpayer filed tax returns and paid taxes on time.
“By providing a secure, digitally authenticated report, the IRS is making it easier for taxpayers to access and share important information while protecting privacy and data integrity,” IRS CEO Frank Bisignano said in the release.
The report is available on demand through the IRS Individual Online Account, allowing taxpayers to download it whenever needed.
In February 2025, the IRS added its first information returns to the individual online accounts: Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, and Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement.
