The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) posted the delayed 2025 OMB Compliance Supplement, an annual resource for practitioners involved in single audits and federal grant compliance.
The AICPA Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC), a voluntary membership center for CPA firms and state audit organizations that promote the quality of governmental audits, has published an overview featuring section-by-section observations about the supplement. The overview assists auditors in accessing and better understanding key changes in the supplement, which was published in May the previous three years.
In an alert shared with GAQC members, the GAQC noted that based on its review of the final supplement, it remains unchanged from a previous draft, aside from minor formatting adjustments. As a result, the GAQC’s analysis of the draft that highlighted new guidance in this year’s supplement remains relevant for stakeholders.
The final supplement applies to audits of fiscal years beginning after June 30, 2024. Despite the later publication of this year’s supplement, the GAQC isn’t aware of any extensions issued by OMB.
“The 2025 Compliance Supplement is a foundational document for producing high‑quality single audits, and we are pleased that the GAQC’s advocacy efforts helped bring about its final release, equipping auditors with essential direction to support consistent and effective audits,” said Lindsey Kennimer, CPA, the AICPA’s senior director–Governmental Auditing & Accounting.
