Andy Nielsen received the 2019 Outstanding CPA in Government Career Contribution Award for significant contributions to the CPA profession through government service at the local, state, or federal level over a candidate’s career.

The award recognizes exceptional leadership, high ethical standards, and a track record of professional excellence. Nielsen, who retired in December 2018 as Iowa’s deputy auditor of state, distinguished himself through his contributions at the federal, state, and local government levels, including 38 years at the Iowa Auditor of State’s Office. He also trained and mentored several governmental CPAs, auditors, accountants, city and county clerks, and elected officials.
