Helicopter rescues and mountain lion sightings are all in a day’s work for one California CPA firm. For 40 years, employees at HMWC CPAs and Business Advisors in Orange County have taken part in an annual tradition dubbed the “Death March”: a camping, hiking, or rafting trip in one of the continent’s most beautiful national parks. Retired HMWC partner Gerry Herter, CPA, regales us with tales from the Death March, and shares advice on how to build a company or firm tradition of your own.
What you’ll learn in this episode:
- How having a firm or company tradition can help with team-building, morale, creativity, and problem-solving
- Why it’s important to get out of the office
- How to start a tradition and keep it going
- Ideas for traditions (that don’t involve hiking)
