Bob Kueppers, CPA, was on Wednesday presented the 2024 AICPA Gold Medal Award of Distinction, the highest honor granted by the organization.
Tracey Golden, CPA, CGMA, past chair of the AICPA and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants, presented Kueppers with the award at spring Council in Orlando, Fla.
“Bob Kueppers has given a tremendous amount of his time and talent to the accounting profession throughout his distinguished career,” Golden said in a news release. “He is a dedicated and passionate volunteer, taking a significant role in each endeavor he pursues. Bob’s example of leading the profession with a commitment to trust and integrity is one to be admired and celebrated.”
Kueppers, a former Deloitte partner, had as clients global Fortune 100 companies and many other public companies, the release said.
In the time leading up to the passage of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the release said, Kueppers was instrumental working with the AICPA in prepping testimony and working with an outside law firm to improve the outcome for the profession. “Behind the scenes, he was essential in helping to form the Center for Audit Quality and its initial operating activities,” the release said.
Kueppers is noted for his volunteer roles and mentoring dozens of high-potential individuals. He has also served on the AICPA’s Nominations Committee and its Professional Ethics Executive Committee. He also was the chair of the Professional Practice Executive Committee.
“His judgment and problem-solving skills were instrumental in achieving the best possible outcomes in complex situations,” the release said. “His knowledge and guidance in these situations earned Bob the trust and confidence of his clients, their law firms, and regulators.”
