Forum connecting major financial capitals will highlight CGMA launch
An interactive forum featuring business leaders in London and New York connected via satellite will highlight Tuesday’s launch of the new Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
The AICPA and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) are hosting the panel of business and finance leaders, who will examine the findings of recent research into challenges faced by CEOs around the globe.
Viewers can register for free and watch the forum online from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST on Tuesday. Coverage of the research also will be available Tuesday at cgmamagazine.org.
Panelists discussing the research findings in London will be Douglas Flint, group chairman of HSBC Holdings plc.; Roger Tomlinson, finance director, business partnering at Rolls-Royce; and Helen Weir, former group executive director for retail bank, Lloyds Bank Group.
New York panelists will be Gary Kabureck, vice president and chief accounting officer, Xerox; Angelo Messina, Otis Elevator’s vice president and CFO; and Chris Stanley, Americas vice president and CFO, Global Network Services, American Express.
Together, joined via satellite link, they’ll address questions stemming from the CGMA research on current business challenges. The forum will include a question and answer session with the event audiences on both continents.
AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon and CIMA Chief Executive Charles Tilley will address the audience to kick off the event.
Debra D’Agostino and Philip Thomas of Oxford Economics will provide additional analysis of the research.
In London, Kirsty Wark, a BBC journalist and television presenter, will emcee the discussion. Bloomberg Radio host Kathleen Hays will serve as the emcee in New York.

Separately, CIMA and the AICPA will host an event in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday celebrating the launch of the CGMA.
The AICPA and CIMA formed a joint venture to establish the CGMA, which recognizes and supports management accountants who possess the skills to guide organizations through an increasingly complex business world.
A variety of materials and publications, including the new online CGMA Magazine, will be available to CGMAs worldwide at cgma.org.
