Sonja E. Pippin, associate professor in the Department of Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Nevada, Reno, received the JofA‘s Lawler Award for the best article of 2017.
Her article, “Trusts and Estates: Uses and Tax Considerations,” which appeared in the February 2017 issue, page 52, weighs the advantages and drawbacks of using different types of trusts in wealth-management and tax-planning strategies.
The award is named for John L. Lawler, a former JofA editor and AICPA senior vice president. Winners are chosen annually by the JofA‘s board of editorial advisers. A list of past winners is available at journalofaccountancy.com/lawler.
