Walker receives profession’s highest honor in taxation

Deborah Walker, national director of Compensation and Benefits at Cherry Bekaert LLP in Washington, D.C., received the AICPA’s 2017 Arthur J. Dixon Memorial Award, the highest honor bestowed by the accounting profession in the area of taxation.

The annual award was established in 1981 in honor of Arthur J. Dixon, a CPA who had an outstanding record of service to the tax profession and to the Institute’s Tax Division.

Walker has written numerous articles and edited journals covering compensation and benefits matters and was an editorial adviser to The Tax Adviser.

Walker has chaired and served on several AICPA committees, task forces, and panels in her 30 years of volunteering for the AICPA. She is a former chair of the AICPA Tax Executive Committee and also served as a member of the AICPA governing Council. She currently serves on the planning committee for the annual AICPA Employee Benefit Plans Conference, the AICPA Employee Benefits Tax Technical Resource Panel, and the AICPA Health Care Task Force.
