More than 100 minority college students participated in the 2018 AccountingScholars Leadership Workshop (ASLW), a three-day invitational program for students of Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latino, Asian, Native American, Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian, or Pacific Islander ethnicity.
The workshop is designed to strengthen minority college students’ professional and networking skills, while helping them to prepare for a career in accounting. This year’s 103 students represented a wide variety of backgrounds from universities and colleges across the United States, including Puerto Rico.
In this year’s workshop, held in Atlanta and themed “CPA: World of Opportunities,” students participated in panel discussions and presentations by leaders in the accounting profession on subjects such as personal branding, increasing confidence, business dining etiquette, and networking.
