John Lauck, an assistant professor of accounting at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, La., received the JofA‘s Lawler Award for the best article of 2016.
His article, “The Psychology Behind Good Judgment,” which appeared in the June 2016 issue, page 26, discusses how understanding some key psychological concepts can help CPAs maintain professional skepticism and avoid making predictable mistakes.
The award is named for John L. Lawler, a former JofA editor and AICPA senior vice president. Winners are chosen annually by the JofA‘s board of editorial advisers. A list of past winners is available at journalofaccountancy.com/lawler.
