Young leader and volunteer wins AICPA’s Outstanding Young CPA Award

Lindsay Stevenson, vice president of Finance & Tax at 1st Financial Bank USA, Dakota Dunes, S.D., received the 2017 AICPA Outstanding Young CPA Award in Honor of Maximo Mukelabai for her community volunteer activities, her service to the AICPA, and her work with the South Dakota CPA Society and the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants.

The award recognizes a CPA under age 40 who demonstrates commitment to the accounting profession through successful practices, involvement, and contributions. The award was established in honor of Maximo Mukelabai, a member of the inaugural class of the AICPA Leadership Academy and the youngest chair of the North Carolina Association of CPAs board of directors. He died at age 36.

In addition to being an AICPA Leadership Academy alumna, Stevenson is the vice chair of the AICPA Young Member Leadership Committee and serves on the AICPA Depository Institutions Expert Panel and the AICPA Women’s Initiatives Executive Committee. She also chairs and serves on several committees in her home state of South Dakota and served on committees in her previous home state of Arizona.
