Four students received the 2016—2017 AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship award.
Chosen from more than 1,000 applicants, the recipients are undergraduate and graduate-level accounting students who are planning to pursue their CPA license and who have demonstrated academic excellence and outstanding leadership skills.
This year’s recipients, each receiving a $10,000 scholarship award for the 2016—2017 academic year, are:
Austin Moss, The University of Iowa
Floricel Castaneda, Southern Methodist University
Jonathan Peck, University of Michigan
Payton Sartin, Wake Forest University
The scholarship is part of the AICPA Legacy Scholars Program, which was established in 2011 and provides more than 100 scholarships for students across the nation. Program participants receive a one-year AICPA scholarship and the opportunity to develop skills needed for a successful career. They are required to complete at least eight hours of service each semester by planning and implementing events on campus that advocate the accounting profession. Participants are also granted access to a coach who provides mentoring for the student’s service events and professional guidance. AICPA Legacy Scholars are Student Affiliate Members of the AICPA, a free-membership option available to college students.
