The 2017 AICPA Fair Value Measurements Workshop, which was held in March, included for the first time training on the new performance framework for the Certified in Entity and Intangible Valuations (CEIV) credential.
The framework provides uniform guidance on the level of documentation and performance necessary to substantiate fair value measurements for financial reporting.
The workshop was hosted by Mark Zyla, managing director of Acuitas Inc. and a member of the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services Executive Committee, who has tracked the challenges of using fair value measurements in financial statements through his organization’s annual survey of fair value audit deficiencies. Nathan DiNatale, principal at SC&H Group and chairman of the AICPA Business Valuations Committee, was the guest speaker.
