Denise Miller, an information assurance associate with Macpage LLC in Amesbury, Mass., received the IMTA Young CPA Scholarship from the AICPA’s Information Management and Technology Assurance Section, and Michael Lortz, shareholder at Geffen Mesher in Portland, Ore., received the 2016 PCPS Young Firm Owner/Leader Scholarship from the Private Companies Practice Section.
The scholarships covered the registration fee and travel expenses to this year’s AICPA Practitioners Symposium and Tech+ Conference in Las Vegas in June.
To be eligible for the IMTA scholarship, a nominee must be a licensed CPA, be a member in good standing with the AICPA, have one to five years of experience as a CPA, and have novice-level experience of less than five years in an IMTA-related field, such as security and privacy, data analytics, service organization control engagement, or IT risk and assurance.
For the PCPS Young Firm Owner/Leader Scholarship, applicants were asked to submit an innovative job role and description. The winner, who was required to be a firm owner or leader, be 25—45 years old, hold a valid CPA license, and be an AICPA and a PCPS member, was selected based on the creativity and quality of the submission.
