Professors awarded for management accounting research

Anne Farrell, associate professor of accounting at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business in Oxford, Ohio; Susan Krische, associate professor of accounting and taxation at American University’s Kogod School of Business in Washington; and Karen Sedatole, professor of accounting at Michigan State University’s Eli Broad College of Business in Lansing, Mich., received the Greatest Potential Impact on Management Accounting Practice Award for their research on corporate employee compensation programs.

Their paper, “Employees’ Subjective Valuations of Their Stock Options: Evidence on the Distribution of Valuations and the Use of Simple Anchors,” explores the benefits of educating employees on understanding the value of employee stock options as part of compensation.

The award, sponsored by the AICPA and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, recognizes academic research most likely to have a significant impact on management accounting. Eligible papers must have been published within the previous five years and submitted by the authors or nominated by peers.
