AICPA/Accountemps Scholarship recognizes academic excellence and leadership skills

Four students received the 2015—2016 AICPA/Accountemps Student Scholarship, which is given annually to undergraduate and graduate-level accounting students who plan to pursue their CPA license.

The award recognizes academic excellence and outstanding leadership skills. The recipients, listed below, each receive a $10,000 award for the 2015—2016 academic year.

  • Stacy Bonds, North Carolina State University
  • Nicole Exnicios, Tulane University
  • Justin Korth, University of Nebraska—Omaha
  • Laura Rudolph, University of Wisconsin—Madison

The scholarship is part of the AICPA Legacy Scholars program, which awards recipients a one-year AICPA scholarship and aims to help them develop the soft skills needed to sustain a successful career by performing eight hours of service each semester planning and executing campus events to advocate for the accounting profession.

This year’s winners were chosen from more than 700 AICPA Legacy Scholarship applicants. A task force consisting of AICPA Student Recruitment Committee members, CPA volunteers, and Accountemps officials made the selection based on academic achievement, demonstration of leadership and volunteerism, and overall commitment to becoming a licensed CPA. Eligible applicants also must have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 and completed at least 30 semester hours in college-level coursework, including six semester hours in accounting.
