JofA divorce taxation article wins best article award

Ray A. Knight and Lee G. Knight received the JofA’s Lawler Award for the best article of 2013. Their article, “Tax Considerations When Dividing Property in Divorce,” which appeared in the April 2013 issue (page 64), detailed the challenges and opportunities faced by advisers involved in marital estate division engagements.

Ray Knight is a visiting professor of accountancy, and Lee Knight is a professor of accountancy, both at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. The husband-and-wife team has published more than 20 articles in the JofA.

The award is named for John L. Lawler, a former JofA editor and AICPA senior vice president. Winners are chosen annually by the JofA’s board of editorial advisers.
