Dan Deines, the Ralph Crouch/KPMG Professor of Accounting at Kansas State University, received the AICPA’s Special Recognition Award, which is given to an individual who has made a contribution of an outstanding nature to the success of a particular professional initiative.
During his career, Deines, who also received the Institute’s 2007 Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award, has worked to improve the quality of accounting education and to recruit high-performing students to the accounting profession.
He has served on several AICPA and Kansas Society of CPAs task forces and committees, including the Accounting Careers Subcommittee, Accounting Education Executive Committee, Leadership Development Task Force, Financial Literacy Commission, and Pre-education Certification Committee, and he has participated in the Pathways Supply Chain initiative.
