Murphy receives Gold Medal for contributions to CPA profession

Leslie Murphy, CPA, CGMA, president and CEO of Murphy Consulting Inc., received the AICPA Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service.

The Gold Medal Award is the highest award granted by the Institute. It is given to CPAs who have made major contributions to the profession.

Murphy served as chair of the Institute’s board of directors in 2005–2006. She began on the board in 2001 and was involved in developing policy as the profession responded to the changing environment over the next six years.

She has continued her service as a member of the Institute’s governing Council and the Assurance Services Executive Committee, with a focus on enterprise risk management and strategic planning for future assurance.

She was named the 2007 Woman CPA of the Year by the American Woman’s Society of CPAs, was inducted into the Advisory Board Hall of Fame in 2011, and received the Women of Achievement & Courage Award from the Michigan Women’s Foundation in 2008. She is chair of the board of directors and executive committee of the St. John’s Providence Health System, in addition to serving on boards of directors for the United Way for Southeastern Michigan, Covenant House of Michigan, VSP Global, and Kelly Services.
