Janet L. Colbert and Donald E. Tidrick received the 2013 Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award.
The award recognizes full-time college accounting professors who excel as educators and who have achieved national prominence in the accounting profession.
Colbert, a professor of accounting in the College of Business and Technology at Eastern Kentucky University, has worked to bring technological advances to the classroom. She co-developed and co-taught Western Kentucky University’s first online accounting course and implemented the same technology when she joined the Eastern Kentucky University faculty. She is also a volunteer for the Kentucky Society of CPAs and has served as a member of the Kentucky State Board of Accountancy.
Tidrick is the Deloitte Professor of Accountancy at Northern Illinois University. He has worked to incorporate video, guest speakers, and current-events projects into his classes to help engage students and provide a real-world perspective. He also has served on the U.S. Comptroller General’s Educators’ Advisory Panel and on several other AICPA and state society boards and committees.
