Gamel Wins PFP Distinguished Service Award

Beth C. Gamel is the recipient of the Institute’s 2009 Personal Financial Planning Distinguished Service Award.

The award recognizes an AICPA volunteer who significantly contributes to the advancement of personal financial planning as a practice discipline and exemplifies the CPA as financial planner.

Co-founder and executive vice president of Pillar Financial Advisors in Waltham, Mass., Gamel most recently served as a member of the AICPA PFP Section’s economic turmoil taskforce, which explored issues facing CPA financial planners during the recession and conducted seminars sharing their findings. She is a past committee member of the Advanced Personal Financial Planning Conference and former member of the Personal Financial Planning Executive Committee.

Gamel is a founding member of the National CPA Financial Literacy Commission, the leadership body for the CPA profession’s financial literacy efforts, 360 Degrees of Financial Literacy (360financialliteracy.org) and Feed the Pig (feedthepig.org) campaigns.

She also is a frequent lecturer, panelist and expert media source who has spoken at national conferences and state society seminars. She wrote the “Money Makeovers” column for The Boston Globe for five years.
