I suspect my note will be only one of many you will receive about the article “Tax From the Top” (April 10, page 16). Someone needs to advise the IRS that we, CPAs, are not partners with the IRS. We are advocates for our clients; we are professional, ethical and law-abiding.
However, we are not the IRS police force, do not work hand in hand with them, and are not happy with their attempts to control us. The IRS trend toward forcing us to be their “auditors” is most upsetting. We should be using our resources, that is, the resources of the AICPA, to oppose any further efforts on their part aimed at making us the enforcers.
