Professor’s Innovative Teaching Helps Earn Accounting Education Award
G. Peter Wilson, Ph.D., professor of accounting at the Carroll School of Management at Boston College, received the Institute’s 2010 Distinguished Achievement in Accounting Education Award.
The award recognizes full-time college accounting educators for excellence in teaching and for national prominence in the accounting profession. The award brings professional recognition to the recipient and helps promote accounting role models in academia.
Wilson is developing materials targeting accounting newcomers to encourage students to pursue careers in the profession. When complete, the text and software will integrate financial, managerial and tax reporting research, teaching and practice; procedural and conceptual skills; and the interplay between a reporting entity’s business and accounting decisions and decisions by users of its accounting reports.
Wilson is the Joseph L. Sweeney Chair in Accounting at BC, has been a teaching consultant for the Big Four public accounting firms, and develops and teaches courses at major investment firms and two Fortune 50 companies.
