Even when the economy is down, there is room for top students in the profession.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers’ 2009 Student Survey found that, even though students in the class of 2009 were graduating with fewer jobs available, accounting majors are still in high demand. Accounting and engineering graduates were among those majors most likely to have already found jobs.
Accounting majors expect to earn an average starting salary of about $45,000, while engineering grads expect to earn $58,000.
