The AICPA received the Greater Durham (N.C.) Chamber of Commerce 2009 Business Excellence Award in the Large Business category.
Anthony Pugliese, AICPA senior vice president–Finance, Membership & Operations, accepted on behalf of the Institute.
The award is given annually, in five categories, to organizations that exemplify success in the Greater Durham area. They highlight the accomplishments of businesses and individuals in the community. The theme of the 2009 awards was “Making Durham Stronger.”
The AICPA, working with Habitat for Humanity, sponsored and built a house in the Durham area. More than 190 employees volunteered for the project, which helped the community and gave staff an opportunity for teambuilding outside the office.
“We are committed to our corporate citizenship effort and will continue to demonstrate that commitment to the community that so warmly welcomed us four years ago,” Pugliese said in a press release.
