| Ashley Forte, a senior at Hillside High School in Durham, N.C., is the first of the school’s Finance Academy students to receive a scholarship sponsored by the AICPA and the AICPA Foundation. Forte plans to study accounting and finance at the Calloway School of Accountancy at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. “One of our goals is to help promising students realize their dream of pursuing an accounting career,” said Victor Velazquez, vice president–member service and operations, who presented the scholarship to Forte. “People like Ashley serve as important role models for their fellow students.” The AICPA partners with Hillside High School’s Finance Academy to review and update curricula with finance and accounting course materials and to encourage students to consider careers in accounting and improve their financial literacy. |
