Add More Colors To Your Background

I like to use background color because it enhances my documents. But when I click on the background-color icon on the toolbar, I get a meager choice of 15 colors. I’d like more options. Any ideas?

You want more colors? I’ll give you more colors. How about an infinite number of choices?

That’s only a slight exaggeration. Here’s how to get many more options.

If you click on the toolbar’s Highlight

Not bad, but no cigar.

To expand your choices, highlight the area you want to colorize and click on Format, Borders and Shading to evoke the Borders and Shading screen (see screenshot below). Be sure the Shading tab is selected. Now, as the screenshot at right shows, you have 64 choices.

You also have the option of adjusting the density of the color by clicking on the drop-menu arrow under Style . The Preview pane on the right shows you how various color intensities will look on the page.

Still not satisfied? Click on More Colors and you’ll get this screen:

If none of those colors appeal to you, click on the Custom tab and you can mix your own hues.
