PCPS—the AICPA Alliance for CPA Firms—and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants released the results of the 2004 Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) Survey. The information, gathered from nearly 2,500 firms of all sizes across the nation, includes comprehensive benchmarking data on salaries, billable hours, service offerings and expenses. For the first time the research included questions on the methods top-performing firms used to achieve exceptional results; other questions focused on marketing, business planning and owner/partner issues. Among other findings, the data showed increased firm growth, profits and billing rates. The results are available at www.pcps.org/member/overview.html
