At the December AICPA National Conference on Current SEC Developments, Charles A. Bowsher, Public Oversight Board chairman, presented Shaun F. O’Malley with the 2000 John J. McCloy Award for outstanding contributions to the auditing profession in the United States. O’Malley, a former chairman of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (then Price Waterhouse), also served as chairman of the POB’s panel on audit effectiveness, which was recently dissolved after issuing a comprehensive analysis of issues affecting auditor independence. He was inducted into the Accounting Hall of Fame last August. The POB established the award in memory of McCloy, a former POB and Chase Manhattan Bank chairman. |
