CPAs Hailed for Enlightened Leadership

The Institute’s Business and Industry Hall of Fame has several new members, following the induction of CPAs Edward Davis Beach, Gayl W. Doster and Paul E. Larson during the AICPA Spring National Industry Conference in Seattle.

The award, now in its second year, honors business and industry CPAs who, in addition to understanding all facets of their enterprises, provide insight and vision and use leadership, commitment and strategic management skills to help their organizations thrive in the “new economy.” Accountants on Call (AOC) and the Institute are joint sponsors of the awards.

Beach is president of BMC Fund, Inc., of North Carolina, and oversees the management of its $150 million investment portfolio. He has worked for more than fifty years in public and private accounting and has built one of the state’s most successful CPA firms.

Doster is president of Sigma Micro Corp., where he has employed advanced technology to expand the reach of his company—a provider of information management and communications software—into global markets.

Larson is former president of the Equitable Life Insurance Co. of Iowa. During his 25-year career there, he led its transformation from a small life insurer into one of the nation’s fastest-growing financial services organizations.

Each Hall of Fame winner received a one-year AICPA membership and a place in the Institute’s Virtual Hall of Fame at www.aicpa.org. Accountants on Call and the AICPA also are featuring the winners in a major advertising and promotional campaign.
