Dixon Award Presented to Podolin

A veteran tax practitioner, Leonard Podolin, was the latest recipient of the AICPA tax division’s Arthur J. Dixon Memorial Award. David A. Lifson, chairman of the tax executive committee, gave the award to Podolin at the National Conference on Federal Taxes in Washington, D.C. The tax division presents the award each fall to a CPA with a distinguished record of service in the tax area.

Podolin retired from Arthur Andersen in 1996 after 38 years. He had served as the partner in charge of the firm’s Philadelphia tax practice for more than 12 years and as a partner in Arthur Andersen’s Chicago headquarters from 1981 to 1996.

His service to the profession included chairing the tax executive committee and the committee on responsibilities in tax practice. Podolin also served as a member of the AICPA council and of the nominating committee for the AICPA board of directors.

Podolin has not let retirement from public accounting stop his work in and on behalf of the profession. He works as a business and tax consultant and an expert witness. He currently also serves on a joint working group of the AICPA tax and professional ethics executive committees. The group is considering revisions to the Institute’s contingent fee rules.
