A team headed by Sharon M. Lightner, PhD, of San Diego State University (SDSU) won the Joint AICPA/ AAA Collaboration Award for its project, Experiential International Accounting: A Distance Learning Approach .
The winning project was a remote access international accounting course which was conducted during the 1998 spring semester at SDSU. Using the latest technology, students in Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the United States simultaneously participated in the class. The course will be offered again at SDSU this year.
Two other projects also earned AICPA/AAA collaboration awards. They were Auditing Organizations Through a Strategic-Systems Lens: The KPMG Business Measurement Process led by Ira Solomon, a professor at University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and Auditing Practice, Research and Education: A Productive Collaboration led by Arnold Wright, a professor at Boston College.
The awards, which were announced at the Institutes annual Accounting Education Conference, were established in 1996 to recognize significant collaborative efforts between academicians and practitioners.
