Gerald A. Polansky, 1991-92 chairman of the AICPA board of directors, died recently.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Polansky joined Deloitte & Touche in 1957, where he served as managing partner from 1967 to 1985 and as senior managing partner of the Washington, D.C., federal services office until his retirement in 1992.
Polansky was involved with the AICPA over a 25-year period. He was the first chairman of the committee on relations with the GAO and served on the government affairs committee for the 1987-88 term and from 1990 to 1993. He served on the investments committee (1986-90) and the finance committee (1986-89 and 1990-93). He also served as AICPA treasurer from 1986 to 1989.
“Gerry was a fine gentleman,” said Philip B. Chenok, immediate past president of the AICPA and current chairman of the Institute’s awards committee. “A dedicated professional, he was someone who cared a great deal about the profession and who had a keen interest in the people that he worked with.”
