Financial planning is an excellent field for young CPAs, and I think that more young CPAs need to take advantage of that opportunity that’s in front of them. I think, again, we are the most trusted adviser for our clients and when a client has--you might just be doing tax work for a client now, but they still look at you as an expert. So you give them that tax return and they have a question about their Social Security or, you know, planning for retirement. You are the person that they are going to think of first.

So I think what I have found in providing financial planning services is that we develop really deep relationships with our clients. I wake up every day happy to go to work because I know I am going to get the work on challenging things with the clients that I love and solving problems that will make them live better lives and really improve their lives. So it’s much more fulfilling work that we do and every young CPA should look at financial planning as the future.
