There are several tips and best practices for training your seasonal tax staff. One of the most readily available is workpaper preparation, workflow process, understanding how you do things within your firm. What I highly recommend for most firms is look at what your training is. If it’s workpaper preparation and you are dealing with Adobe there are many tools within Adobe. There are many tools within Excel. Understand your audience and make sure you are putting them with the right groups, even if it’s well before you are hiring them. If you are having a training for partner group, and the people you are hiring are best suited to work with them, invite them to that session. If it’s a new hire or manager training, make sure you are looking to the experience level, the skill set, and bringing in your seasonal hire and working with them with the appropriate group within your own office.
