Excel: A fast way to open the Format menu: Highlight cell(s) and press Ctrl+1.

Excel: A fast way to remove borders from cell(s): Highlight cells and press Ctrl+Shift+_ (underline).

Word: To add the cents () symbol, press Ctrl+/ and C.

Word: To move a paragraph around in your document, position the insertion point (not the cursor) in the paragraph you want to move, hold down the Shift and Alt keys while pressing the up arrow to move the paragraph up or the down arrow to move it down.

Word: To quickly remove formatting, highlight target text and press Ctrl+spacebar.

On occasion you may find you cannot implement a function I describe in this column. More often than not it’s because not all functions work in every operating system or application. I try to test everything in the 2000 and XP editions of Windows and Office. It’s virtually impossible to test them in all editions and it’s equally difficult to find out which editions are incompatible with a function. I apologize for the inconvenience.
