T he New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants in May
awarded the Journal of Accountancy an Excellence in Financial Journalism Award for its article “ Eight Habits of Highly Effective Audit Committees ” (Sept. 07, page 46). The award recognizes articles in the national and local press that contribute to a better understanding of business topics.
The article, written by John F. Morrow and Joan Pastor, and edited by Matthew G. Lamoreaux, offered eight time-tested best practices for improving numerous aspects of audit committee performance. It was selected by judges from the NYSSCPA and the New York Financial Writers Association. Other award recipients this year include Newsweek , Money , Bloomberg News, Dow Jones, USA Today , The Associated Press, Financial Week and The Financial Times .
