his is a novel CPAs can relate to. Reman uses his public accounting/CFO background in this tale of corporate high jinks. Four audit staff recruits who had met at a Big Eight CPA firm 25 years earlier and celebrated the start of their careers at the Iron Horse Bar & Grill in midtown Manhattan return there annually to compare notes. They are a CPA/CFO whose world-class company has run afoul of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1979 and his loyal friends, an international CPA firm partner (the narrator), a law firm senior tax partner and the senior vice-president for tax of a billion-dollar company. Add plot twists from the SEC, the DOJ and the IRS, and the story line mimics scenarios from the JofA’s “Fraud Beat.”
