Accounting students can immerse themselves in recent mergers among Boeing and McDonnell Douglas, observe financial reporting in China and track down frauds without leaving the classroom. The AICPA is making available to college accounting departments nationwide 12 real-life case studies assembled by teams of educators and practitioners. The Institute encourages faculty members to use these cases in their classes.
A task force of the AICPA curriculum and instruction subcommittee has been choosing case studies since 1992 and presenting a selection of them at the annual AICPA educators conference. Departmental administrators who have not yet received their case studies can call Leticia Romeo at 212-596-6221. For a list of all the case studies since 1992, go to www.aicpa.org/members/div/career/edu/caseidx.htm . The next educators conference will take place November 6-7, in Arlington, Virginia.
